Frequently, fire department operations are related to environmentally hazardous liquids such as mineral oils, fuels or chemicals that have spilled. In these cases, it is necessary to act quickly and effectively to avoid spreading as well as large-scale effects on the environment. The HYDRA SWAP multi-skimmer (Swimming Water Application Protection) for the removal of oil and contaminated material is used in combination with the HYDRA fire-fighting vacuum and the ULTRA pre-separator. The sequence of these devices facilitates the suction of the unwanted materials from water surfaces.
The suction chamber of the skimmer is placed in a float through which the device floats on the water surface. The skimmer is designed to adjust to the water level. Surface water as well as the floating materials are sucked out through the connected suction hose. With the extendable telescopic rod, the skimmer can be easily guided on the water surface. If required, two skimmers can also be operated with one HYDRA fire-fighting suction unit, either in parallel operation or controlled separately from each other.
